Monthly Mission Recap: September 2026

September was the busiest stretch Outside The Wire has run so far. Here's the month at a glance and where the mission fits in.

September at a glance

  • 46 loads picked up in September: 44 freight runs plus two canceled pickups that paid truck-order-not-used

  • About 42,200 miles (roughly 37,800 loaded and 4,400 empty)

  • 28 states plus Washington, DC

  • Six units on the road at different points in the month

Where the freight ran

The map got wide this month. Freight ran up and down the East Coast, from the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida all the way up to Maine. It crossed the Midwest through Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas, ran through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and reached west to Colorado and New Mexico.

A few of the longer runs:

  • Tennessee → Maine

  • South Carolina → New Mexico

  • Texas → Massachusetts

  • Georgia → northern Maine

  • Michigan → Colorado

Plenty of shorter regional work filled in the gaps: Carolinas and Virginia, Tennessee into the Southeast, and New England down into the Mid-Atlantic.

Unit by unit

Same letters we use in Week in the Lane, so you can follow a unit from week to week.

  • Driver A (company driver): 11 loads, including both canceled pickups, about 8,600 miles. Pennsylvania and New York into Ohio and New England, out to Nebraska, Georgia, and New Mexico, then Michigan to Colorado to close the month.

  • Driver B (owner-operator, own truck): 10 loads, about 9,400 miles. Tennessee and the Carolinas to Michigan and back, then Louisiana, Iowa, Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas to Georgia.

  • Driver C (company driver): 11 loads, about 12,600 miles, the most of any unit. Long Northeast–Southeast runs, including Tennessee to Maine and Texas to Massachusetts, plus two trips into Florida.

  • Driver D (company driver): 6 loads, about 4,900 miles. Alabama and the Carolinas early in the month, then Virginia to New Hampshire, Massachusetts to Oklahoma, and Maryland to Kansas.

  • Driver E (company driver): 4 loads, about 2,700 miles. Kentucky into Georgia and the Carolinas, a long run from Georgia to Maine, and Carolinas to Virginia.

A sixth unit, a short-term box truck, ran 4 loads and about 4,000 miles in the first half of the month, from Colorado, Illinois, Texas, and North Carolina to Wisconsin, Texas, the Carolinas, and South Florida.

The mission behind the miles

Outside The Wire Logistics is a Purple Heart veteran-owned, SDVOSB-certified carrier. Every month, part of what the trucks earn goes back to people who served.

1% of September's booked revenue, $685.16, goes to the Warriors and Quiet Waters Foundation.

Warriors and Quiet Waters serves post-9/11 combat veterans and their families through fly fishing and time outdoors in Montana. It's recovery, purpose, and quiet discipline, the same things that keep a small fleet steady once the truck is parked.

Grateful for safe miles, steady dispatch, and drivers who keep showing up.
